About me
Welcome, and thank you for visiting. My name is Sapuan, from Malacca, Malaysia. In the amateur radio community I am better known as Romzi. This website is my personal notebook: a place where I keep the technical findings, guides and references I consider important, so that I can come back to them later and study them properly.
Some of the material is not originally mine. When I keep something that was published elsewhere, such as another website or a social media post, I always credit the original source. The about page itself serves the same purpose as a profile on QRZ.com: a short introduction of who I am and what I do.
What I do
Amateur Radio
Licensed operator 9W2FRP. HF, VHF and UHF operating, antenna building, and an APRS station that has been running around the clock.
Linux Servers
Server and desktop Linux, with a home lab and hosted servers I manage myself. Almost everything I know was learned through experiments and hands-on practice.
Web & Services
I run a small home-based business offering Linux server administration, simple website design and related services.
The shack & the hobby
Why “Romzi”?
Many friends ask why I use the name Romzi instead of Sapuan. Romzi was the name my late mother wanted to give me at birth, but my late father had already registered “Sapuan”. I have no problem with my given name; using Romzi is simply my way of honouring my mother and keeping her memory alive.
Military service · 1989 – 2003
I spent 14 years of my youth in the Malaysian Army, first as an infantry Ranger and later in supporting units. After the army I worked with the National Service Department, and today I am self-employed.
