As I’m one of the Organiser Committee for Malaysia Amateur Radio Symposium 2019, which is held at MCMC Cyber Jaya recently on 20th July, just about 3 days before the event happen, suddenly idea coming into my mind. Why don’t we do something about Live Streaming? The idea pop up when me and Pak Mus, as usual having our Teh Tarik Session. So I called Ashwar, the Chief of Organiser Committee and he agreed with the idea.
Finally as the event happened and done, and the Live Streaming Video already archived in Youtube, I wrote my review on that activity, so I don’t forget it and to express my opinion and lesson learned.
I’m frustrated with my internet connection here at home, still using ADSL with 4 MBps download and 512 KBps upload. There is no infrastructure for fibre optic since my home located at village, just nearby to my village is newly Bemban Height Residential Area called Taman Bemban Height, about 500 meters, which has fibre optic facilities. Despite been a customer for more than 15 years, they still not considering it as per now.
I got no choice, I need to use my 4G mobile data and finally using about 15 GB of it to download and to upload the video. I have experience in video editing before sometime in 2006 / 2007, 12 years ago using pirated video editing software and pirated Windoz operating system. But now, since I’m using Linux Operating System fully and happy with their open source policy, I need to find suitable Video editing software that work for Linux.
After looking around, I’ve done installed Cinelerra, Pitivi and Openshot which is suitable and work for Linux Mint OS, an Ubuntu based operating System. After play with it, finally I’m choosing Openshot software since it is easy for beginners like me. The other two seem to be quite complicated and more advance.
Finally after spend two sleepless night, the video editing finally done. The process are to download unedited Live Stream Video from Youtube. So, there is so many ‘time waste’ activity need to be removed. To determined the scene which need to be remove also took some time, which is using the scissor tool in the software, to make the video duration shorter and straight to the point. The rendering process consuming lots of time, till one hour or so, depending on the duration of the video. My old PC ‘hang’ two time during the rendering process, I think due to my mistake by opening other application since bored waiting. which is burden the processor and consuming additional memory. Then to re-upload the video to Youtube also took some time. But what ever it is, I’ve done my part and my contribution toward the Amateur Radio society. Please have a look at the video through playlist, which will play it in sequence. Bye. 73
